एएनजेड खबरमे ३०, २०२५

Alberta, The Alberta Nepal Chamber of Commerce (ANCC) proudly hosted Mount Everest Day 2025 in Calgary as part of its strategic initiative to promote tourism in Nepal and foster cultural exchange between Canada and Nepal.

This commemorative event was organized in collaboration with NRNA Canada and NCSC, and was supported by key partners including the Nepal Tourism Board, Trekking Agencies’ Association of Nepal (TAAN), Tribhuvan University’s Department of Tourism and Hospitality, and the Embassy of Nepal in Canada. The celebration was enriched by the presence of community leaders from TOSS, Newah Society, Magar Samaj, and Tamang Samaj, whose active participation showcased the unity and strength of Alberta’s vibrant Nepali diaspora.

Community members and special guests joined together to mark this significant occasion. A heartfelt tribute was paid to the legendary first Everest summiteers — Tenzing Norgay Sherpa and Sir Edmund Hillary — with a moment of silence held in remembrance of all those who have lost their lives attempting to reach the summit of the world’s highest peak. The event proudly honored the extraordinary accomplishments of Everest summiteers.

Two-time Everest summiteer Dave Rodney and Everest summiteer Mingma Tenzin Sherpa were present at the celebration. Mr. Rodney, who also serves as Special Advisor to ANCC, and Mr. Mingma Sherpa were recognized with a Certificate of Appreciation presented by ANCC President Mr. Sameer Pandey, and a traditional katha presented by Director Mr. Dhruba Rai, as tokens of respect and admiration. Both summiters shared firsthand accounts of their journeys to the top of the world, delivering an inspiring message that with determination and courage, anything is possible. Congratulatory messages were received from His Excellency Mr. Bharat Raj Poudyal, Ambassador of Nepal to Canada; Mr. Laxman Gautam of the Nepal Tourism Board; Mr. Ram Chandra Sedai from TAAN; and Dr. Pashupati Neupane from Tribhuvan University. Additionally, NRNA Canada President Mr. Madhab Dulal and NCSC President Mr. Prakash Bashyal extended warm congratulations to the summiters and commended ANCC’s leadership in promoting Nepal’s tourism and cultural identity on the global stage. The event also featured a colorful cultural dance performance, enhancing the atmosphere with vibrant Nepali tradition. Guests enjoyed refreshments and engaged in networking and social interaction in a festive and inclusive setting.

The program was emceed by ANCC Secretary Mr. Kiran Kharel. Technical support was provided by Director Mr. Vikram Adhikari, while logistics coordination was managed by Treasurer Mr. Ananta Acharya. Vice President Mr. Diwas Dhakal gave an insightful presentation on the history and significance of Mount Everest, and President Mr. Sameer Pandey delivered the welcome address. The event concluded with a warm vote of thanks by Director Mr. Ghanendra Neupane, expressing heartfelt appreciation to all attendees, partners, and volunteers. Special thanks to the media for their coverage and support, especially Laxmi LK Channel and Nepali Radio Calgary. Mount Everest Day 2025 in Calgary was a remarkable celebration of achievement, cultural pride, and community unity — a true testament to the enduring bonds between Nepal and Canada.
